Tommy Dean, literary agent extraordinaire, has officially left Rosecliff Literary and is headed to a new house.
And I’m going with him.
Our new home is Talcott Notch, an agency with 20+ years of selling books and experience, and I’m very happy to be moving with Tommy to their house. They’ve got an impressive array of deals and some wonderful books on shelves.
Since I’ve been represented by Mr. Dean, he’s been an invaluable source or knowledge about the publishing industry and has always championed my work. We’re still trying to get a deal for my debut novel, but I have no doubt its coming. So far, we’ve gotten some very glowing rejections. That may seem like a strange combination of words, but its true.
Editors from lots of houses have said my manuscript is thrilling and well written. None have said yes, yet, but we remain undeterred. The publishing world is a bit strange, just now. Maybe its always been that way. But what’s selling right now in huge numbers aren’t the kinds of books I would normally read.
Times change, though, and books along with them.
And that’s a great thing.
The literary world, just like any other, needs shakeups every now and again. Sure, there are some genres that I’ll always love, but its fun being alive and reading at a time when folks are able to publish all sorts of tales and stories that may not have been pushed to the front in years past. The world is always looking for what will make us open our eyes wide next.
If you’ve read any of my stories, you know I write a lot of crime/noir/thriller stuff. Its what I love to read as well. Maybe crime isn’t having its brightest moment, but I know how the pendulum swings. It’ll come back around.
And when it does, I’ll be ready.
